At Open Trail Financial Consultants, we think it is important to support causes and people who need a little extra help, as well as those who are working to improve the world we live in. That is why we give back every year by offering a helping hand, donating, and paying it forward whenever we can.
Our 2024 donation on behalf of our clients was to the Made in Santa Rosa Education Foundation.

Our goal is to build meaningful collaborations and partnerships with the Santa Rosa community to help close the opportunity and achievement gaps, and build bridges that will help our students grow and succeed.
Our 2023 donation on behalf of our clients was to the Pepperwood Preserve.
Pepperwood Preserve
Located in the heart of Sonoma County – a globally recognized biodiversity “hotspot” – Pepperwood Preserve is a 3,200-acre biological reserve and research station. The preserve is an important refuge for more than 900 species of native plants and wildlife and we think of it as a "living laboratory," hosting researchers from around the world. Whether facing an unexpected hardship or living on a fixed income, seniors in our community have monthly access to an abundance of quality produce and grocery items through Senior Basket. The consistent availability of vitamin-rich foods enables nutritional stability for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Our 2021 donation on behalf of our clients was to Redwood Trails Alliance.

Redwood Trails Alliance is a highly respected organization known as a leader in the creation and stewardship of trails and community. Redwood Trails Alliance builds unity among all outdoor enthusiasts through conservation, education, and increased access to trails, and this community in turn supports a vast trail network throughout the region with sustainable and enjoyable trails through world-class landscapes.
In 2020 we selected COTS to donate to on behalf of our clients.
Committee on the shelterless (COTS)
Committee on the Shelterless, also known as COTS, assists those experiencing homelessness in finding and keeping housing, increasing self-sufficiency, and improving well-being. Their vision is to have a community where everyone has a place to call home.
During the 2020 fires and COVID-19, Open Trail Financial Consultants made a special donation and volunteered to help our community, hands-on.
Redwood Empire Food Bank
The Redwood Empire Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization serving north coastal California from Sonoma County to the Oregon border. Since 1987, they have been helping our community through the provision of healthy food, nutrition education, and developing strategic partnerships to create long-term solutions. Last year they served 1 in 6 people in Sonoma, Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino, and Lake counties through their three Hunger Initiatives.
Open Trail Financial Consultants supported Impact 100 in 2019 through 2021.
Impact 100 Redwood Circle
Impact 100 Redwood Circle (RC) empowers and enables local women to serve as philanthropic leaders by collectively funding significant grants to make a lasting impact in our community. It is is currently comprised of over 200 women, each of whom makes an annual donation of $1,000. Impact 100 Redwood Circle (RC) assesses critical needs in our community, reviews nonprofit grant requests for financial support, and awards one “Impact Grant” of $100,000 each year, as well as additional smaller grants as funding allows.
Every year, Open Trail Financial Consultants donates to a local nonprofit on behalf of our clients. In 2019 and 2020, we selected Sonoma Land Trust .
Sonoma Land Trust
Sonoma Land Trust protects the scenic, natural, agricultural and open landscapes of Sonoma County for the benefit of the community and future generations. Since 1976, they have protected more than 50,000 acres of beautiful, productive and environmentally significant land in and around Sonoma County. Sonoma Land Trust is a local, non-governmental, nonprofit organization funded largely by membership contributions.
Every year, Open Trail Financial Consultants donates to a local nonprofit on behalf of our clients. In 2018, we selected The Living Room.
The living Room
The Living Room’s mission is to ease adversity and promote stability, dignity and self-reliance for women and children who are homeless, or at-risk of homelessness, in Sonoma County. They offer drop-in daytime services Monday through Friday to women and children who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. Their aim is to create a welcoming safe environment where participants can rest, rejuvenate and work towards stability.
Every year, Open Trail Financial Consultants donates to a local nonprofit on behalf of our clients. In 2017, we selected Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County.

Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County has been partnering with low income families and individuals to help them achieve economic and social stability; to build community, and to advocate for social and economic justice since 1967. It has a rich history and strong allies here in Sonoma County and offer many programs to help with people’s varying needs.
Every year, Open Trail Financial Consultants donates to a local nonprofit on behalf of our clients. In 2016, we selected Food for Thought.
Food for Thought
Food for Thought supplies more than 500,000 meals per year at no charge to qualified clients who are at risk of malnutrition. Their services eliminate food insecurity, reduce hospital visits and medical expenses, and improve their clients’ health and quality of life.
