At Open Trail Financial Consultants, we think it is important to support causes and people who need a little extra help, as well as those who are working to improve the world we live in. That is why we give back every year by offering a helping hand, donating, and paying it forward whenever we can.
Committee on the shelterless (COTS)
Committee on the Shelterless, also known as COTS, assists those experiencing homelessness in finding and keeping housing, increasing self-sufficiency, and improving well-being. Their vision is to have a community where everyone has a place to call home.
Redwood Empire Food Bank
The Redwood Empire Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization serving north coastal California from Sonoma County to the Oregon border. Since 1987, they have been helping our community through the provision of healthy food, nutrition education, and developing strategic partnerships to create long-term solutions. Last year they served 1 in 6 people in Sonoma, Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino, and Lake counties through their three Hunger Initiatives.
Impact 100 Redwood Circle
Impact 100 Redwood Circle (RC) empowers and enables local women to serve as philanthropic leaders by collectively funding significant grants to make a lasting impact in our community. It is is currently comprised of over 200 women, each of whom makes an annual donation of $1,000. Impact 100 Redwood Circle (RC) assesses critical needs in our community, reviews nonprofit grant requests for financial support, and awards one “Impact Grant” of $100,000 each year, as well as additional smaller grants as funding allows.
Sonoma Land Trust
Sonoma Land Trust protects the scenic, natural, agricultural and open landscapes of Sonoma County for the benefit of the community and future generations. Since 1976, they have protected more than 50,000 acres of beautiful, productive and environmentally significant land in and around Sonoma County. Sonoma Land Trust is a local, non-governmental, nonprofit organization funded largely by membership contributions.
The living Room
The Living Room’s mission is to ease adversity and promote stability, dignity and self-reliance for women and children who are homeless, or at-risk of homelessness, in Sonoma County. They offer drop-in daytime services Monday through Friday to women and children who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. Their aim is to create a welcoming safe environment where participants can rest, rejuvenate and work towards stability.
Community Action partnership Sonoma county
Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County has been partnering with low income families and individuals to help them achieve economic and social stability; to build community, and to advocate for social and economic justice since 1967. It has a rich history and strong allies here in Sonoma County and offer many programs to help with people’s varying needs.
Food for Thought
Food for Thought supplies more than 500,000 meals per year at no charge to qualified clients who are at risk of malnutrition. Their services eliminate food insecurity, reduce hospital visits and medical expenses, and improve their clients’ health and quality of life.
